The Going's Got Tough, Not to Mention Weird

Assange is in state custody and several tens of thousands of computer users have responded by enrolling their personal computers' computing power into a botnet loosely wielded against Wikileaks' enemies' e-presence.  I wonder if their parents know what they're doing is not recommended;

"a security researcher at Sophos warned against getting involved with the Anonymous campaign."

Yeah, no.  Still, with over 30k downloads and a record of internet disruption to make Dillinger scratch his head, one wonders what kind of manifesto they must have. [accessed at this URL]

A:  Shorter than Marx's, with diction issues but plenty of arbitrary capitals.
But seriously,

"Anarchy for the Lulz is NOT the objective of OPERATION: PAYBACK.  Anonymous does not seek to disturb the public peace nor the average Internet Citizen; for average Internet Citizens are most of us who are Anonymous."

They've hassled MasterCard and more recently Visa into the ground.  MC payments have been disrupted and packets of supposedly secure accountholder data are being passed around file-sharing channels.  And all this is within only two days of the Assange's jailing - the trigger of this avalanche of e-ire.  Still, it's hard to regard this band of (probably) pasty pirates as anything other than a stopgap.  No judge will rule based on what happens on the internet.

How did it come to this?  One of the most poignant explanations is best explicated by this article at the UK's The Guardian.  To make a long story short: DOCUMENTS HAVE BEEN RELEASED EXPOSING HOW CHILD PROSTITUTES WERE MADE TO DANCE COURTESY OF THE U.S. TAXPAYER (VIA A CONTRACTOR IN AFGHANISTAN).  ABOUT THIS THERE IS NO DOUBT.  IN A POLARIZED WORLD, ONE SIDE WOULD RATHER DENY THE ISSUE AND PUT A DIFFERENT MAN ON TRIAL.

Rounding out the cast of good, bad and ugly comes Sarah Palin - the former Gov. with a reality TV show who, as Stephen Colbert put it, "now needs only enter reality" - and her hell-bent campaign on facebook to mislead 'Middle America' with volatile non-thoughts.  This was posted just over a week ago while the rebel forces were lying in wait on Hoth:

What if any diplomatic pressure was brought to bear on NATO, EU, and other allies to disrupt Wikileaks’ technical infrastructure? Did we use all the cyber tools at our disposal to permanently dismantle Wikileaks? Were individuals working for Wikileaks on these document leaks investigated? Shouldn’t they at least have had their financial assets frozen just as we do to individuals who provide material support for terrorist organizations?

She sounds scared.  Down the posting she practically calls for the assassination of Assange, a man who is possibly a sex criminal and arguably white-collar criminal.  Real classy like you were takin' out a moose with an assault rifle from a helicopter.  No mama grizzly's ever proud of it.

Incidentally, check out the wall on her Facebook page for dozens of inane updates pertaining to her show and, joking aside, more than one reference to Ted Nugent.  Also John Cleese admitted on camera Michael Palin isn't the funniest 'Palin' anymore.  It's time there was an investigation.  Freeze her assets!  I'm looking at you, anonymous...
